
During day 3 of MPL PH season 9 playoffs,April 30, in the first series of the day Smart Omega went head to head with Onic PH in a lower bracket elimination match, OMG shocked everyone by eliminating the M3 runner up in a 3-0 sweep. Their excellent play was led by a master class performance by Joshua”ch4knu”Mangilog who was named MVP for all 3 games, after the series an emotional Duane”Kelra”Pillas was seen crying and hugging Onic gold laner, and his former teammate and mentor Mark”Markyyyyy”Etcobanez, when asked about what he said to his mentor Kelra replied “Nag sorry ako dahil nilaglag namin sila,gusto ko talaga na kami magkatapat sa finals pupunta ng MSC”. The former Execration squad is now only one series win away from going back to MSC to defend their crown and title as the KIngs of SEA.
In the second series of the day the kingslayers RSG PH went head to head with TNC pro team,RSG showcased their dominance from the get go thanks to their incredible synergy and highlight worthy plays of Season 9 MVP Dylan”Light”Catipon, RSG won the series in a 3-0 sweep, punching their ticket to MSC 2022 and securing the first spot in the grand finals.Coach Panda a championship coach in MPL season 3 under the ArkAngel who also went to MSC and placed as 2nd runner ups, Coach Panda replied “We lost to Louvere back then, now there is no other team who has a stronger mentality than us”. When asked who do they think would be the scarier opponent to face in finals, four out of the five RSG main 5 players namely, Emann”Emann”Sangco,Nathanael”Natthz”Estrologo,Arvie”Aqua”Antonio, and Light said Omega as they are the more dangerous team in the late game,Jonard”Demonkite”Carando was the only one different who said TNC, because he feels that they’ll be the more prepared team.
